The Effects of Risk and Uncertainty on Corporate Behavior and Structure
My dissertation is a comparative corporate law and governance project focusing on the behavior of firms in markets where information costs can be expected to be high, and attempts by firms to deal with risks arising from rapidly changing political environments. I find out ways in which information costs and political risks affect firms, how firms respond, and whether there is any causal connection between risk and response on the one hand, and firm behavior and structure on the other. The project is located within the legal and economic literature that has been seeking answers as to why corporate entities seem to differ as one travels around the world.
