Did You Know?

The Events Office reserves HLS space for events and meetings. Did you know?

  • Most rooms on campus are equipped with a fixed room set up. To determine which spaces on campus will best meet your needs and to see examples of room configurations across the HLS campus, view the Room Capacities and Views page and the Description of Room Set Ups.
  • There are 5 function rooms. They all have flat floors and do not come equipped with standard furniture. This allows for flexible set ups.

  • Function rooms are set up with portable function furniture. This is why it is particularly important to specify the type of room set up needed for events occurring in function space. 
  • Function furniture may not be laminated and will therefore require table coverings. 
  • HLS function furniture includes: 
  • folding rectangular tables
  • folding 60" round tables (a.k.a. banquet tables)
  • function chairs (a.k.a. Ropes Gray chairs) that have a black frame and lightly padded seat cushions. They are reddish in color. 
  • Classroom space includes small seminar rooms such as Pound 418 and Hauser 524. 
  • Events can only book function space during exam periods.
  • In the past year we received our highest number of requests for HLS meeting and event space to date. The chart below reflects the requests received in the past three years.

  • Room setups for events or classes are completed by the Harvard FMO custodial staff, referring to room diagrams provided by the Events Office.
  • Room set up diagrams are distributed to the custodial staff each Friday for the next 7-day set up period (next Tuesday through the following Monday). Please provide your event set up requirements when submitting your room request. If changes need to be made, please make every effort to notify Events prior to the beginning of the 7-day set up period when your event occurs.
