FAQ for Managers

I need to hire an employee. What’s the first thing I do?

Contact your Human Resources Officer.  They will assist you in evaluating the position and filling out the Job Description form.  It is very important to have a completed Job Description form so that we can properly post and track your job.  Once you have completed this form we will activate your job in the ASPIRE system.

I want to advertise the job in specific places. How do I make that happen?

Provide the Recruiter with your costing code and let them know where you would like the ad placed.  We will take care of the posting process for you.  The recruiter might also make specific suggestions based on the hiring goals of your position.

How quickly will candidates start applying?

Your non-exempt jobs will be posted with the internal Harvard community for ten business days.  Internal candidates may begin applying within minutes of your job being approved and external candidates on the 10th business day after that.

Candidates have forwarded their resumes to me. What do I do with them?

Forward their information to Human Resources.  Applicants have to subscribe to the correct online hiring process to be considered “Active Candidates”.

What is our Recruitment Process? Who does what?

Please see the Recruitment Process link to be fully advised as to the stages of our process.  This process will also inform you as to the tools you need and the ownership stages.
