A detail of The Northwest Corner's proposed site plan. |

The Northwest Corner project is the culmination of many years of discussion and planning, both by Law School and University leaders.
Since the mid 1990s, it has been increasingly clear that some of the School's core facilities needed substantial upgrading. There is also a significant space shortage on campus, due to a greatly enlarged curriculum, expanding research and clinical programs, and a steady increase in the number of faculty. A range of solutions have been explored, including a plan to relocate the Law School to the University’s property in Allston.
When it was decided that the School would not be relocated, it became clear that a major reinvestment in our current campus would be needed. School leaders began working with planners and architects to devise a plan that would keep the School on its current “footprint,” but provide more and better spaces for the school's present and future needs.
The result is the Northwest Corner project.
