MICHAEL AVERY

Michael Avery is an Associate Professor at Suffolk Law School in Boston, Massachusetts where he teaches Evidence, Scientific Evidence, Constitutional Law and Individual Rights. He is a co-author of the Handbook of Massachusetts Evidence (7th ed), the leading treatise in the area. He also co-authored the leading treatise on civil rights claims against police: Police Misconduct: Law and Litigation. Avery participates actively in continuing legal education programs at Suffolk and other schools. He was a trial attorney for 28 years, most recently at Perkins, Smith & Cohen in Boston, and is considered one of the country's leading civil rights lawyers. He is president of the Board of the Police Accountability Project of the National Lawyers Guild. Avery is a 1970 graduate of Yale Law School.
