Hon. Carol S. Ball is an Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Superior Court. For twenty years prior to her appointment to the bench in 1996, she was an active criminal and civil trial attorney. After a year as a law clerk with the court on which she now sits, she was an Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County (MA) for eight years and then a criminal defense practitioner for twelve years, handling murder cases in both capacities. She is a graduate of Northeastern University School of Law and Smith College and teaches trial advocacy at Northeastern University, Boston University and Harvard Law Schools. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
