STACEY A. L. BEST
Stacey A. L. Best is a Clinical Instructor at the Criminal Justice Institute of Harvard Law School. The Criminal Justice Institute is the primary clinical placement for third year students who are enrolled in a course entitled Introduction to Trial Advocacy (ITA): Defense. Ms. Best's primary responsibility as a clinical instructor is to act as a supervising attorney for students representing indigent defendants at all stages of criminal proceedings in local district courts.
In addition, Ms. Best co-coordinated a national conference, "Race, Police, and the Community," sponsored by the Criminal Justice Institute. She also serves on the trial advocacy faculty for the Trial Advocacy Workshop (TAW) offered annually at Harvard Law School, and co-coaches a team that competes in the National Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition, sponsored by John Marshall Law School.
A trial attorney, Ms. Best is active in the community, seeking to make the practice of law attainable to children of color and underprivileged students by coaching a mock trial team at City on a Hill, an area high school. Prior to her arrival at Harvard Law School Ms. Best was a trial attorney at the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS), the public defender office in Massachusetts where she was also active in the training of new attorneys and students.
