HON. ISAAC BORENSTEIN
Judge Isaac Borenstein was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United
States just short of his 11th Birthday. He received his B.A. (1972)
from The George Washington University, and J.D. (1975) from Northeastern
University School of law, and LL.M. (1983) from Harvard Law School.
He has been a public defender in Miami and Boston; practiced with
and taught in the clinical program of Harvard Law School at the
Legal Services Center in Jamaica Plain; taught full-time at New
England School of Law; and has taught part-time since 1985 at Northeastern
University School of Law, where he was also a full-time Visiting
Professor of Law during 1998-1999 while on an educational leave
of absence from the Superior Court. He has also taught part-time
at Suffolk Law School, will be teaching at Boston College Law School
in the Spring of 2003, and has lectured at numerous continuing education
programs for judges, lawyers, social workers and other professionals.
As a Judge first in the Lawrence District Court for six years, and
for about ten years on the Superior Court, he has tried hundreds
of cases, jury and jury-waived, involving both minor and the more
serious civil and criminal matters.
