Chief of Police Michael R. Gauldin of the Burlington Police Department, Burlington, North Carolina is a 23-year veteran. He has served in an administrative position in the department for the past nine years. Prior to that he commanded and supervised the Community Policing Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Vice & Narcotics, and the Field Operations Division. He served as a Detective for nine years.

Chief Gauldin is a graduate of North Carolina State University Office of Administrative Officers Management Program, a graduate of Guilford College in Justice & Policy Studies and a graduate of Rockingham Community College in Liberal Arts Program.

He currently serves on many local non-profit boards of directors and state law enforcement organizations. Chief Gauldin is a former faculty member of Alamance Community College, North Carolina, and a current certified instructor by the North Carolina Justice Training and Standards Division.
