
CHARLES J. OGLETREE JR.
Charles Ogletree (78), Jesse Climenko Professor of Law and
prominent legal theorist, first came to Harvard Law School as a
student in 1975 and returned ten years later as a visiting professor.
Over the course of his legal career, he has held a number of positions,
including deputy director of the District of Columbias Public
Defender Service. He has written and lectured widely on issues of
criminal law, ethics, and public policy. Beginning in 1989, he served
as the moderator on the PBS series Ethics in America,
and he continues to moderate other PBS and C-Span programs. He has
appeared as a guest commentator on numerous local and national television
and radio programs. In 1991, he served as legal counsel to Professor
Anita Hill during the Senate Confirmation Hearings. Professor Ogletree
has received many distinguished awards including an Honorary Doctor
of Laws from New England School of Law.
