BRETT VOTTERO

Brett Vottero is currently serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Springfield, Massachusetts. He is presently assigned to the Hampden County Superior Court where he prosecutes major felonies, focusing on homicide and arson cases. In 2001, he was assigned to coordinate Hampden County District Attorney William Bennett's post-conviction DNA review project. He has prosecuted criminal cases for almost 15 years. From 1996 to 1998, he served as an Assistant Attorney General responsible for prosecution of arson-for-profit cases statewide. He was in private practice for three years specializing in insurance fraud cases. An experienced trial and appellate attorney, Vottero lectures frequently on legal issues in fire investigation and trial tactics. He has taught public and private investigators, attorneys and law students in programs offered by the International Association of Arson Investigators, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms, the Massachusetts Fire Academy, and other groups. From 1994 to 2000, he was a member of the Adjunct Faculty of Western New England College School of Law where he teaches Trial Methods. He is a 1984 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
