HONORABLE MARK L. WOLF
Hon. Mark L. Wolf was appointed as a U.S. District Judge for the District of Massachusetts in 1985. He is a graduate of Yale College and Harvard Law School. Prior to his appointment to the District Court, Judge Wolf was: an associate in the Washington, DC law firm of Surrey, Karasik & Morse (1971-1974); a Special Assistant to the Deputy Attorney General of the United States (1974); a Special Assistant to the Attorney General of the United States (1975-1977); an associate and then a partner in the Boston law firm of Sullivan & Worcester (1977-1981); and Deputy U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts (1981-1985). In 1984, Judge Wolf received the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award for his work in prosecuting public corruption.
Judge Wolf has taught at the Harvard and Boston College Law Schools.
He also chaired a committee that revised the Local Rules of the
United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts in
order to promote quick and complete compliance with discovery obligations
in criminal cases. He recently presided in United States v. Flemmi,
a case that disclosed a history of misconduct by the Federal Bureau
of Investigation and some of its Top Echelon Organized Crime Informants.
