Students in Making Rights Real: The Ghana Project work closely with Professor Lucie White and Ghanian organizations that focus on the human rights dimensions of Ghana's health policies and practices. The partnership between the Project and its Ghanaian affiliates on the Right to Health began in 2000. The Project involves a Winter term fieldwork component in Ghana to gain first-hand experience in economic and social rights, development, and global health issues.
Each year, HLS students work with law students from the University of Ghana and Ghanaian community partners to plan and realize Winter term fieldwork, which seek to make the nation's health care system work for all. Fieldwork targets high-poverty areas -- both rural and urban -- and has combined:

All clinical students are also required to take an accompanying seminar that focuses on Ghana in the context of its history and development, and includes guest speakers, strategy sessions, and field activities.
