The Predatory Lending/Consumer Protection Clinic focuses its advocacy efforts on preserving and protecting equity for low- and moderate-income homeowners, combating abuses in the consumer financial services, debt collection, and for-profit college industries and ensuring equal and fair access to credit markets. The practice is primarily litigation and involves consumer, bankruptcy, real estate, banking, and tort law.
Students gain extensive experience:
The clinic is part of the WilmerHale Legal Services Center (LSC), a general practice community law office in Jamaica Plain. LSC was founded nearly 30 years ago as a clinical practice program for Harvard Law School students, and delivers high quality civil legal assistance to the community. The Legal Services Center's diverse clinics provide clinical instruction to second and third year law students and serve as a laboratory for the innovative delivery of legal services. LSC students are taught and mentored under the supervision and guidance of clinical instructors and fellows in one of the Center's litigation clinical practices. In addition to its academic year clinical program, LSC also operates a summer program for law students to gain experience in legal services.
For registration information, see the 2015-2016 clinical curriculum.
