Dear Alumni!

The Harvard Negotiation & Mediation Clinical Program (HNMCP), one of the newest clinical options available to students at HLS, invites you to explore the exciting opportunities for alumni involvement. HNMCP trains a new generation of lawyers to be creative problem solvers and dispute resolution system architects.  Under the supervision of experienced Harvard faculty and fellows, students work with partner organizations that encounter conflict situations and are looking for advice.  The clinic offers students hands-on opportunities to hone interpersonal skills, client counseling capability, and professional ethics.  Over the course of one or more semesters, students working with HNMCP partner with client organizations to help them work through the dynamics of a conflict to devise systems to better manage disputes as they arise.  Past partners with whom students have worked include government agencies such as the U.S. State Department and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), major corporations, non profit organizations, community groups, religious communities, and hospitals.

To ensure that we continue to provide stimulating, challenging, and innovative projects for our students, we need the help of  HLS alums like you. If you or your organization is involved in a conflict situation that you cannot easily resolve and for which you could use some advice, if you find that your organization could use an evaluation of its internal dispute resolution procedures, or if you are preparing for a complicated series of upcoming negotiations and could benefit from a sophisticated conflict assessment in advance of those discussions, we’d like to hear from you! .  Working with the Harvard Negotiation and Mediation Clinical Program has many benefits: you have the benefit of hardworking, motivated HLS students with a background in the theory and practice of negotiation; students get an opportunity to apply their knowledge to a real-life situation; and everyone – students, alums, and program alike – forge new connections and relationships for the future.
