Typical Semester Calendar for Clinical Projects

     

    Client Supervisor

    Students

    HNMCP Faculty / Staff

    Before the Project Begins

    • Identify possible project(s) that would benefit client organization
    • Develop project plan for each project (see projects)
    • Work with HNMCP to review and refine project plan(s).
    Prepare for their semester
    • Contact potential client organizations to explain HNMCP and its functions
    • Review submitted project ideas for suitability
    • Work with client organizations to review and refine project plans.

    First Week of semester

    Orientation Meeting

    • Client-supervisor provides student with project background
    • Client, student, and HNMCP supervisor agree on project work-plan & deliverables
    • Client, student, and HNMCP supervisor agree on how best to keep in touch

    First half of semester

     

     

     

    • Provide reasonable oversight, support, and mentoring (if appropriate), as defined in the project plan.
    • Raise any issues of concern with HNMCP supervisor as soon as possible.
    • 10-15 hours of substantive work per week, in line with the project plan.
    • Frequent contact with HNMCP supervisor and (where appropriate) with client-supervisor.
    • Provide detail-oriented supervision and coaching to clinical students.
    • Serve as a one-stop contact person for client questions, concerns, and comments.

    Mid-semester

    Mid – Semester Meeting

    • Student briefs client-supervisor on project status.
    • Client-supervisor gives student feedback on performance.
    • Project plan is revised, if necessary.

    Client Supervisor submits mid-semester evaluation to HNMCP

    Second half of semester

     

     

     

     

    • Provide continued oversight, support, and mentoring (if appropriate).
    • Provide constructive feedback on any rough-drafts of any work products.
    • Raise any issues of concern with HNMCP supervisor.
    • 10-15 hours of substantive work per week, in line with the project plan.
    • Frequent contact with HNMCP supervisor and (where appropriate) with client supervisor.
    • Gradual transition from research to production of the final work product (when applicable)
    • Continued detail-oriented supervision and coaching to clinical students.
    • Serve as a one-stop contact person for client questions, concerns, and comments.
    • Provide constructive feedback on any rough-draft work products by students.

    End of semester

     

     

     

     

    End – of – Semester Meeting         

    • Student briefs client-supervisor on project status.
    • Client-supervisor gives student feedback on performance.
    • Student and client-supervisor discuss any lessons learned, next possible steps, and/or theoretical insights deriving from project.
    • Student hands client-supervisor all undelivered work product and handover memo (if applicable)

    Client Supervisor submits end-of-semester evaluation to HNMCP
