Prior to coming to the Center for Health Law & Policy Innovation in September 2012, Maggie spent a year as a law clerk for the Honorable Nanette K. Laughrey in the Western District of Missouri. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2011. While at Harvard, Maggie represented asylum seekers through the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic and worked on behalf of indigenous communities in Latin America within the Harvard Human Rights Clinic. In her third year of law school, Maggie traveled to Ghana to work on projects focused on improving sanitation and access to water in poor communities in Accra, as well as health insurance reform in northern Ghana. In law school, Maggie also worked on legal projects in Tanzania, Sierra Leone and Rwanda. Prior to attending law school, Maggie received an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Chicago, and an A.B. from Harvard College in 2004. She is licensed to practice law in the state of New York.
In addition to health law and policy, Maggie’s legal interests include human rights and humanitarian law, immigration law, and the role of grassroots movements in fostering social change.
