SUMMER JOBS WITH HARVARD PRISON LEGAL ASSISTANCE PROJECT (PLAP)
The Harvard Prison Legal Assistance Project (PLAP) is offering public interest summer positions for summer 2013. These are SPIF-eligible positions and satisfy the pro bono requirement. Students who elect to work for 10 weeks are eligible for an additional stipend. Summer student attorneys at PLAP represent Massachusetts state prison inmates at disciplinary hearings and parole hearings, and assist inmates with a variety of other issues. This is a great experience: you pick the cases on which you work, and you work on them from start to finish. In addition, you will gain valuable experience interviewing clients, arguing cases, and writing appeals when necessary. There are very few summer jobs out there that will give you this much experience taking actual cases from start to finish.
No prior experience or coursework is necessary. We are looking for dedicated individuals who have a strong interest in working closely with clients, managing their own cases, and are not afraid to learn. A driver's license is helpful. If you are interested, PLEASE SUBMIT A RESUME TO CARL LISBERGER at email@example.com BY MONDAY, FEBRUARY 4th. Applicants will then be contacted for interviews. We encourage you to apply now as hiring decisions will begin after February 4th, but we will continue to accept applications on a rolling basis throughout. This is an incredible way to spend your summer and there are only a few positions available. Please email Carl or Sarah Morton at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
