Importing From Asia Workshop 


Asia is the manufacturing capital of the world.  If you are considering manufacturing product, or sourcing products in Asia, then this workshop is for you.

This workshop will be conducted by five experts in Asian manufacturing, supply chain management, logistics and finance.  Each of these experts will highlight specific examples of how to:
• find potential vendor
• qualify vendors
• maintain quality
• assure delivery
• finance imports
• understand legal issues
• and other tips based on their own experiences

Presenters:  
Maurice Mitchell - Maurice is the International Account Manager with UPS. Maurice has 20+ years of experience in International Trade, and is a frequent speaker at trade forums held by the Mass Export Center and the Chafee Center for International Business at Bryant University. Maurice has also taught graduate level courses in International Trade at Boston University.
       
Peter Dobbs - Peter is a Boston SCORE Mentor. Peter's career as an international commercial banker included assignments in Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.  His specializations included using trade finance, structured finance and supply chain finance to support global commodity flows from producers to consumers.

Michael Laffen -  Michael is a Boston SCORE mentor.  He is a Global Banker who worked in England and Australia prior to spending 40 years as an International Trade Banker in Boston, where he worked with global banks to facilitate international trade and market the banks services to importers and exporters.     

Paula Connelly - Paula is a principal in the Law Offices of Paula M. Connelly, a law firm specializing in Customs and international trade matters, and the Legal Counsel for the Boston Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association, and she has over 20 years experience in Customs and international trade matters and works with numerous importers and exporters in addressing and resolving import and export compliance issues.

Harbus Foundation Gala

The Harbus Foundation at Harvard Business School (HBS) is the only foundation in the country run entirely by MBA students. They do great work in the Boston community by awarding several $10,000 grants to nonprofits each year, and this year they are stepping up their efforts by raising money for higher-impact $25,000 grants at their inaugural Harbus Foundation Gala. The event will be on March 27 at the Harvard Club of Boston and will feature great food and open bar; entertainment from two Harvard a cappella groups,  the "Radcliffe Pitches" and the "Din & Tonics", and the White Heat Swing Orchestra; silent auction; and networking with members of the HBS community and greater Boston nonprofit community. Keynote address by Marc Sternberg (MBA HBS '00), former Deputy Chancellor of the NYC Department of Education and current Director of K-12 Education Reform at the Walton Family Foundation.   Please join us for a celebration of the Harbus Foundation's philanthropic efforts in the Boston community.
