The seminar will examine conspiracy law in a range of dimensions--historical, political and the familiar criminal context—and through multiple topics (e.g., conspiracy and freedom of speech) together a set of related subjects bearing on both inchoate and group crime, such as liability for attempt, accessory conduct, solicitation and RICO-racketeering . Although the emphasis will be on criminal law, most of these categories of liability have counterpart civil liability applications or doctrines which will also be explored. There will also be limited attention to counterparts to conspiracy doctrine in Continental legal regimes.
