The one feature of the Harvard LL.M. program that I most cherish is the rich social network that you develop in one year - the sheer kick of knowing someone in every corner of the world! I cannot imagine a more international setting – maybe the UN General Assembly?
In addition, the campus is bustling with so much activity and so many interesting events all at the same time, that no matter what you are doing, you are missing out on something almost as exciting.
The Negotiation workshop was a most transformative experience. Negotiation here is not just a deal-making process, but a key to any discussion or interaction, whether personal or public, that begins with a deep understanding of the human psyche. The attention to detail in the course came, no doubt, from the evolution of the negotiation pedagogy for over 20 years here at HLS. The course did not make me a great negotiator overnight, but it did equip me with a powerful framework for critical self-evaluation and constant self-learning.
I also took the advanced course on negotiation and deal design, jointly offered at the law school and the business school. Interactions with the business school students exposed me to interesting perspectives and methods. The wide variety of courses on negotiation offered by the Program on Negotiation is interesting. What is even more interesting is how all these courses mesh with each other, like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle.
