Harvard Coordinated JD/PhD Accelerated Loan Forgiveness Program

Harvard Law School has a financial assistance program for eligible students pursuing a JD at Harvard Law School (HLS) and a PhD at the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS). In recognition of the burden law school debt places on graduates who pursue academic careers, the program in some cases provides special loans to cover some or all law school tuition and fees not otherwise paid for with need-based grants.  The loans are forgiven over time after graduation from both schools provided the graduate is engaged in qualifying employment. Decisions regarding funding, including eligibility and qualifying employment status, will be made by an HLS JD/PhD committee.

For more information about the coordinated JD/PhD program, contact Julie Barton, Director of Special Academic Programs, at jbarton@law.harvard.edu or 617-495-7192.
