Microsoft Security Update
Microsoft has announced a critical security vulnerability affecting Windows 2000 and Windows XP Operating Systems. An attacker who successfully exploited the most severe of these vulnerabilities could take complete control of an affected system; including installing programs, viewing, changing, or deleting data, or creating new accounts that have full privileges.
Email Slowness
As of Tuesday, February 22nd, the Law School community may be experiencing e-mail slowness. <strong>Services affected include webmail and e-mail clients configured for IMAP.</strong> ITS is currently working with UIS to resolve this problem. For updates, please call the ITSI line at 8-4847.
Scheduled Network Interruption
On Monday February 21, from 5:00AM to 8:00AM, FAS Network Operations will be conducting core network maintenance. Due to this maintenance, HLS will experience sporadic network instabilities and session disconnections during this maintenance window. Specifically, information that is accessed from the network (both home and shared drives) may be inaccessible. Please plan accordingly around this three hour window.
Update Notice to Clinical Programs
Update Notice to Clinical Programs: As of Today, 2/17/05, all network, internet, and email issues on the clinical server have been resolved. The only lingering concern is with the software program Turbo Law. When this program is up and running, ITS will contact each clinical program. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Faculty-Staff Help Desk at 5.0722.
CAMail Maintenance Planned for this Weekend (2/18-2/19)
On Friday night, February 18th, UIS will perform operating system maintenance on the CAMail system. From 11:30pm until midnight no e-mail service will be available while operating system patches are applied. Mail received during that period will be queued for delivery after service resumes. Also, from 11pm until 3am on Saturday, no Web mail (Imp and SMMS) service will be available while the operating system of the Web mail server is upgraded.
Wireless Interuption
FAS will be performing software upgrades on the wireless network Wednesday morning, 2/16/05. There will be a brief interruption of wireless service between 6:00am-8:00am. ITS recommends using a wired connection during this scheduled software upgrade. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Faculty-Staff Help Desk at 5.0722. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Notice to Clinical Programs
In an effort to fix the network issue that is affecting all Clinical Programs, ITS is in the midst of transferring data from an old Windows server to a new Windows server. While this is being done, people who work in Clinical Programs will not be able to access information on the network. This includes information on both personal and shared network drives. In some cases, Internet connection may also not be accessible.
