Vista and Office 2007 Concerns - Student Information
Recently Microsoft announced two new additions to its product line, Office 2007 and Windows Vista. Office 2007 Beta was released this past November, the full version of Office 2007 and Vista were released at the end of January 2007. After an initial round of testing, ITS (along with other ITS organizations across Harvard) has decided to postpone the rollout and support of these products to Faculty, Staff, and other Harvard owned assets.
Microsoft Windows Vista (all versions)
The Students, who's computers are personally owned and therefore subject to personal preference, may purchase and install Microsoft Vista. However, please be aware of the following compliency list of ITS provided services:
Compliant with Microsoft Vista and supported:
- Symantec Antivirus
- FAStAccess Network Registration
- MyHLS/iCommons
- NetLocker
- MyMail Web Access
- Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
Not Compliant:
- LPT:One Printing: estimated compliance by January 2008
Microsoft Office 2007 (all versions)
The faculty and staff of Harvard Law School will not be moving to Office 2007 before the end of the 2007/08 acedemic year. This means that any student that chooses to use Office 2007 MUST save all files that will be submitted in Office 2003 compatable format (*.doc, *.xls, *.ppt, *.mdb, *.pst).
