Setting a Password in Mac OS X
Many viruses infect computers because those computers do not have passwords set to log in, or the passwords are easy to guess.
When choosing a password, you want to use something that is difficult for others to guess, but one that you can remember without writing down. Good passwords:
- Use numbers, uppercase *and* lower case letters
- Use symbols like !, ?, and %
- Combine two or more words into a pass "phrase"
To Set Passwords for Accounts On Your Computer
- Click the Apple Menu, then System Preferences.
- Under System, click Accounts.
- For each account on your computer, select the account from the left and then click Password.
- Choose a secure password for each account.
