Setting a Password in Mac OS X

Many viruses infect computers because those computers do not have passwords set to log in, or the passwords are easy to guess.

When choosing a password, you want to use something that is difficult for others to guess, but one that you can remember without writing down. Good passwords:

To Set Passwords for Accounts On Your Computer

  1. Click the Apple Menu, then System Preferences.

  3. Under System, click Accounts.
  4. For each account on your computer, select the account from the left and then click Password.
  5. Choose a secure password for each account.
