Enabling Automatic Software Updates in OS X

Apple releases periodic updates to patch security holes in their operating systems and fix other bugs in their software. Mac OS X can download software updates automatically, ensuring that you stay current with the latest security patches and software releases directly from Apple.

  1. Click the Apple Menu, then click System Preferences.

  3. Under System, click Software Update.

  5. Click on Check for Updates. (For some versions of OSX, this is called Update Software.)

  7. Under Check for Updates, select Daily.

  9. To update your computer immediately, click Check Now and install all available updates.
