Recommended Ethernet Cards
Wired Ethernet Cards
We recommend that you purchase an Ethernet card made by one of the following manufacturers: 3Com, Apple, Asante, Farallon, or Xircom. Students and faculty members with supported Ethernet cards or adapters will always be given first priority when requesting assistance in connecting to the network. We cannot guarantee that non-supported Ethernet cards or adapters will function on the HLS network. Any non-supported card/adapter found to be affecting the integrity or performance of the network will be disabled.
Wireless Ethernet Cards
If you plan to connect to the HLS network via the wireless access points on campus, you will need a wireless card. We recommend the Lucent ORiNOCO Silver Card, which is compatible with Windows Operating Systems and Mac OS 9.2 or below. For Mac OS X, Apple's AirPort card is recommended. For a complete list of approved cards tested on the HLS network, please refer to the FAS Network: Wireless page.
