Dean's Reception and HLS Fund Breakfast

March 17 - 18, 2010

On St. Patrick’s Day in Chicago, over 100 HLS alumni gathered for the inaugural Dean’s reception series. The evening, hosted by the Harvard Law School Society of Illinois, was a memorable event – with thanks to Sidley Austin for their incredible hospitality and spectacular views. Irene Reed '98, the President of the Harvard Law School Society of Illinois welcomed everyone followed by Chuck Douglas '74, Managing Partner at Sidley Austin and Bryan Cressey '76, Founder and Partner of Cressey & Company in Chicago. Harvard Law School’s Dean, Martha Minow – a native Chicagoan, discussed what an electrifying time this is in the legal profession. She outlined the transformations in the profession and the opportunity for HLS. The discussion focused on HLS’ commitment to leading the way legal education anticipates change and prepares lawyers for entry into this fast-changing profession.

On March 18 an intimate group of HLS Fund donors and volunteers met for breakfast and discussed how teaching methods are changing and the impact this is having on HLS students.
