A Celebration of Public Interest
March 13-15, 2008

Serve the public, Inspire future generations, Celebrate public interest

For the first time in HLS history, we are celebrating the remarkable accomplishments of our many graduates and students who are engaged in public interest work.

This reunion of public interest lawyers is the first of its kind at any law school in the country, we believe, and our goals for this event are exciting and lofty.

We want you to connect with classmates and other lawyers who are doing public interest and pro bono work. We want to focus on the pursuit of social justice in the new millennium. We need your help to inspire students to go into public interest careers, and we seek your creativity and enthusiasm for new ways of serving the public through the law.

The Celebration will bring together HLS graduates from across the years and across practice settings who are engaged in public service activities—from the nonprofit sector, the government sector, public international practice, the private bar, academia and the judiciary. We want to reestablish ties with alumni we have not seen in some time and to create new connections. In short, we want to move ahead with renewed energy and commitment to the invaluable role of lawyers working for the public good.

Students and admitted students will be invited to all programming during the Celebration. We see this as an important opportunity for you to inspire them by sharing your experiences in public service, and to discuss the many ways they can use their law degrees to serve the public, whether through full-time public service practice, pro bono work in the private sector, or moving back and forth between the sectors.

The Celebration will highlight the dedication and achievements of our many alumni who have dedicated their careers to public service. More importantly, it will connect past, current and future HLS students who share this commitment.
