Fall Reunion 2009

Classes of 1949, 1954, 1964,1979, 1989, 1994, 2004, Emeritus Club

It was a spectacular reunion weekend.  More than 600 alumni and friends returned to campus to renew friendships, share stories, and participate in the intellectual life of the Law School.

Many reunion participants had their first opportunity to hear from Dean Martha Minow who discussed her first several months on the job and highlighted some key initiatives including the new public service fellowships.  She underscored the important role that alumni play in the life of the School and encouraged their feedback and suggestions.

Professor Lawrence Lessig led an entertaining and stimulating talk on institutional corruption (watch video).  We pondered the Future of the Internet with Professor Jonathan Zittrain ’95 and learned more about the international face of Harvard Law School as Professor William Alford ’77 discussed the School’s growing global impact with students and alumni.

Current HLS students provided their perspective on life at HLS while Professor John G. Palfrey, Jr. ’01 provided insight into the new generation of "digital natives".  Alumni law firm leaders participated on a panel moderated by Professor Ashish Nanda (watch video) to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the legal services industry today.

In her first speaking engagement about TARP, Professor Elizabeth Warren gave an eye-opening talk about her role as Chair of the Congressional Oversight Panel and fielded questions (watch video).

The weekend was topped off with cocktails and dinners Saturday night and brunch at Harvard’s own Cambridge Queen’s Head Pub.

It was wonderful to have so many alumni return to campus.  If you were unable to join us, we hope to see you in Cambridge soon.  It is not the same without you!
