April 8-10, 2011Classes of 1961, 1971, 1976, 1986, 2001 and 2006 More than 750 alumni and guests enjoyed a wonderful spring weekend in Cambridge while hearing from HLS professors about cutting edge research, learning more about the exciting new initiatives on campus, connecting and reconnecting with old friends, and participating in cultural tours (view the program). Many reunion participants heard from Dean Martha Minow who highlighted some of her key priorities at HLS including her commitment to strengthening the ties between the legal profession and practice, and two new faculty appointments of Professors of Practice while also looking at other ways to cross-pollinate with other disciplines through the Harvard network. She underscored the important role that alumni play in the life of the School and encouraged their feedback and suggestions. The Honorable Anthony M. Kennedy ’61 and The Honorable Elena Kagan ’86 celebrated with their classmates and discussed a myriad of issues facing the Court with Dean Minow (view slideshow). Alumni panels tackled the issues of the financial crisis and provided perspectives on the future of education. Professor Michael Klarman discussed social reform and political backlash during Friday’s luncheon (watch video) and Professor Jonathan Zittrain ’95 provided an in depth view of changes in technology (watch video). The weekend was topped off with cocktails and dinner on Saturday night and a Sunday brunch at The Harvard Faculty Club. It was wonderful to have so many alumni back on campus. If you were unable to join us, we hope to see you in Cambridge soon. It is not the same without you! Survey: Photos: |
