How to Apply for LIPP

New Applicants

New applicants with LIPP-qualifying employment can enter the program at any time by submitting a New Application along with the supporting documentation described below. Applicants should try to apply approximately 1 month before becoming eligible for assistance in order to allow us enough time to create an award and to ensure the information provided is as accurate as possible. Your LIPP eligibility begins when you are legally obligated to start repayment (after you have exhausted periods of deferment and grace-periods), enter a LIPP eligible job AND the LIPP office receives a complete application. A complete application is defined as the online application in addition to ALL supporting documents. Prorated assistance is available for those who begin qualifying jobs partway through a six-month award period, however LIPP does not provide retroactive assistance. New applicants to LIPP will always initially submit a New Application, Employer Certification Form, documentation of good standing from lenders, tax forms from the previous year, and any other forms which apply to a particular participant (e.g.: Judicial Clerkship Form, Business Supplement Form, Parental Leave Form).

Returning Participants

Participants continuing in the LIPP program must submit an application for LIPP assistance twice a year. The standard application deadlines for LIPP assistance are mid November for the January - June award cycle, and early June for the July - December award cycle, in order to guarantee a timely check. LIPP awards are not retroactive and will not be awarded to cover loan payments incurred before a complete application is received. A complete application is defined as the online application in addition to ALL supporting documents. In addition to the Renewal Application, all applicants must submit the Employer Certification Form, documentation of good standing from lenders, and any other forms which apply to a particular participant (e.g.: Judicial Clerkship Form, Business Supplement Form, Parental Leave Form). For the July - December award cycle, tax forms from the previous year are also required. It is important for continuing participants to adhere closely to the application deadlines to ensure continuity of assistance.
