SPIF awards are based on a student's current academic progress towards their JD, whether they currently receive financial aid and if they have a child dependant. These factors also determine the funding cap that is applied.
SPIF awards are based on students working a minimum number of weeks over the course of the summer. The level of funding a student is eligible for is based on the years completed towards his/her JD, financial aid status and if the student has a child dependant.
In order to ensure that the resources available for SPIF are distributed equitably among all SPIF recipients, a funding cap is used in the awarding process.
SPIF is distributed as either a stipend or Federal Work Study. Students should proceed with the expectation that they could receive either type of funding.
