ExpressO Submission Service

ExpressO Preprint Service Streamlines Journal Submission

Dean Elena Kagan and the Law School Library are pleased to let students know that we have subscribed to a preprint submission service on behalf of all HLS students. The preprint service, known as ExpressO, is designed to ease the administrative burden of submitting multiple copies of a manuscript to multiple law reviews for publication. Through ExpressO, authors upload manuscripts to the ExpressO website and select the law reviews to which they would like their manuscripts submitted. ExpressO then distributes the manuscripts electronically to the law reviews that have been selected.

The service is available for all law reviews accepting electronic submissions through ExpressO, which includes over 450 publications. The service was founded in 2003 by two law professors at UC Berkeley who were frustrated with the inefficiencies and expense of distributing their own law review manuscripts. Since its inception, ExpressO has handled over 2000 manuscripts and completed 60,000 deliveries.

The ExpressO electronic delivery service is free to all HLS law students. Students using this service need to be sure to use their HLS email account however, since users are validated by HLS email domain name. For more detailed information about the ExpressO service visit http://law.bepress.com/expresso/.

For instructions on how to submit manuscripts to the ExpressO service, please consult Kim Dulin, Associate Librarian for Research Services at kdulin@law.harvard.edu.
