The Elihu Root Rare Book Room

The Root Room, the Special Collections Reading Room, located at the South end of Level 4.

The Root Room, the reading room for Special Collections materials, is located at the South end of the main Reading Room. Here scholars can examine historical materials in a comfortable yet protective setting. Historical materials are stored in closed, compact stacks, with museum-quality environmental controls, several levels below the library.
