American FactFinder

American FactFinder is the primary online census data dissemination site from the U.S. Bureau of the Census. American FactFinder allows you to browse, search, and map data from the 1990 & 2000 Decennial Census, 2000-2003 American Community Survey, Annual Population Estimates, 1997 & 2002 Economic Censuses, and Annual Economic Surveys. The American FactFinder tools allow you to generate U.S. population, housing, economic and geographic data. American FactFinder also provides access to international data and links to national statistics agencies.

Census Bureau

The U.S. Census Bureau serves as the leading source of data about the people and economy of the United States. In addition to taking a census of the population every 10 years, the Census Bureau conducts censuses of economic activity and state and local governments every five years. The Census Bureau conducts more than 100 other surveys every year. The sole purpose of the censuses and surveys is to collect general statistical information from individuals and establishments in order to compile statistics.

DataFerrett

DataFerrett is a data mining and extraction tool. You must download and install the DataFerrett application. DataFerrett allows you to select a data basket full of variables and then recode those variables as needed; develop and customize tables; and select results from a table to create charts and graphs for visual presentations. DataFerrett allows you to receive data for extraction into multiple formats including ascii, SAS, SPSS, Excel and Access and to move seamlessly between query, analysis, and visualization. datasets available for use with DataFerrett include: American Community Survey (ACS), American Housing Survey (AHS), Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS),,Consumer Expenditure Survey (CES), Current Population Survey (CPS), Decennial Census of Population and Housing (Census2000), Decennial Census of Population and Housing (Census1990), National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS), National Center for Health Statistics Mortality-Underlying Cause-of-Death (MORT), National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (HANES), National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NHAMCS), National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-Associated Recreation (FHWAR), Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP), and Survey of Program Dynamics (SPD).

Eurostat

Eurostat is the statistical agency for the EU. The site provides access to monthly, quarterly, and annual data from 1960 onwards. Topics include: general statistics, regional statistics, economy and finance, population and social conditions, industry, services and transport, and intra- extra-EU trade statistics.

FedStats

FedStats, maintained by the Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy, provides easy access to the full range of statistics and information produced by more than 70 U.S. federal agencies.

Historical Statistics of the United States

Historical Statistics of the United States provides statistics from Colonial times to the present, including: statistics on the U.S. population, including characteristics, vital statistics, internal and international migration; statistics on work and welfare, economic structure and performance, economic sectors; and statistics on governance and international relations. Download tables in Excel or CSV formats; download entire groups of tables as a zip file; and create custom tables. LexisNexis Statistical

LexisNexis Statistical indexes and abstracts the statistical content of selected United States government publications, state government publications, business and association publications, and intergovernmental publications. The abstracts may also contain a link to the full text of the table and/or a link to the agency's web site where the full text of the publication may be viewed and downloaded. National Survey of America's Families

The National Survey of America's Families is produced by the Urban Institute, an independent nonprofit policy research and educational organization. The National Survey of America’s Families collects data on the children, adults under 65 years of age and families in 13 states. Data relates to a variety of topics including education, economic status, health care, health insurance and family structure. Registration but no fee required to access the data. The National Survey of America's Families provides a comprehensive look at the well-being of children and non-elderly adults, and reveals sometimes striking differences among the 13 states studied in depth. The survey provides quantitative measures of child, adult and family well-being in America, with an emphasis on persons in low-income families.

State and County QuickFacts

State and County QuickFacts, produced by the U.S. Census bureau, provides summary profile tables showing frequently requested data items from various Census Bureau programs. Profiles are available for the nation, states, counties, and large cities. State and County QuickFacts includes incorporated places with 25,000 or more inhabitants.

Statistical Abstract of the United States

The Statistical Abstract of the United States, published annually by the U.S. Census Bureau, provides statistics on social and economic conditions in the United States. A section Statistical Abstract volumes are available in pdf format from 1878 to the present. The Bicentennial Edition: Historical Statistics of the United States, Colonial Times to 1970 is also available in pdf format. on Comparative International Statistics includes information on finance, agriculture, population, communication and military affairs. Supplemental features include USA Statistics in Brief; Mini Historical Statistics; State Rankings; Key Federal Statistical Agency Reports; and a Guide to State Statistical Abstracts; as well as collections of tables on selected topics: Black, African American Population; American Indian, Alaska Native Population; Asian Population; Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander Population; Asian, Pacific Islander Population; and Hispanic or Latino Origin Population. The Statistical Abstract is also available in print (1878 to present) and CD-ROM (1993 to present) formats. The CD-ROM version includes tables in spreadsheet format.

United Nations and International Statistics Programmes

A listing of United Nations and other international organization statistical programs compiled by the United Nations Statistics Division.

United Nations Demographic Yearbook System

The United Nations Demographic Yearbook System collects, compiles and disseminates official statistics on a wide range of topics. Data have been collected from national statistical authorities since 1948 through a set of questionnaires dispatched annually by the United Nations Statistics Division to over 230 national statistical offices.

United Nations Social Indicators

The United Nations Social Indicators, covering a wide range of subject-matter fields, are compiled by the Statistics Division, Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat, from many national and international sources. Indicators are provided on the following areas: Child-bearing, Education, Health, Housing, Human settlements, Illiteracy, Income and economic activity, Population, Unemployment, Water supply and sanitation, and Youth and elderly populations.

UNSTAT Statistical Databases

The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSTAT) compiles statistics from many international sources relating to trade, national accounts, demographic and social behaviors, energy and the environment. Harvard University subscribes to two restricted access UNSTAT statistical databases: Commodity Trade Statistics Database (COMTRADE) and United Nations Common Database (UNCDB). UNSTAT provides unrestricted access to many of its statistical databases including: the Demographic Yearbook, National Accounts Main Aggregates and Social Indicators. UNSTAT provides data for use in time series research. Many of the databases contain variables from as early as 1945.

White House Social Statistics Briefing Room

The White House Social Statistics Briefing Room (SSBR) provides access to current federal social statistics including links to information produced by a number of federal agencies. The information included is maintained and updated by the statistical units of those agencies. All estimates for the indicators presented are the most current values available. The SSBR includes statistics on Demography, Crime, Education and Health as well as other topics.
