The Library has nearly a hundred computer workstations and thirty laser printers for use by patrons. WiFi wireless connectivity is available in most areas of the library, in addition to over five hundred internet jacks.
Printers are available throughout the Library, configured to print jobs from the computers in their immediate vicinity. Printing from laptop computers is also supported. Laptop printing jobs are routed to specifically designated "network" printers. There are two such network/laptop printers in the library. As shown on the map, one is located in the 4th floor copy room (next to the Reference Desk) and one is located on the 2nd floor (in the copier alcove just inside the Fishman Periodical Room). Additional printers, including a color printer, can be found in the computer lab in the basement of Hauser Hall. The installation of a print client is also necessary to print from your laptop. Links to directions on how to install the print client can be found here.
To connect to either the wireless, or wired, network you need to register and configure your laptop so it will be recognized on the network. The installation of a print client is also necessary to print from your laptop. Links to directions on how to install the print client can be found here.
To assist patrons using computers in the library, the Library employs a team of students called Tech RAs. During the school year, a Tech RA is available almost every hour the Library is open, stationed at the Langdell Circulation desk. The Tech RA can troubleshoot simple computer problems, add toner and paper to printers and refer other problems to the Library's computer specialists.
The Tech RA on duty can also be reached by e-mail at librtech@law.harvard.edu.
