Admission Access
Anyone holding a valid Harvard identification card may enter the Library. Other people who wish to use the Library must obtain an access pass. Certain categories of people who are not affiliated with the University must pay a fee to use the Library. A current Harvard ID card or a special Law Library access card is required to enter the Law Library. To obtain an access pass for a guest, or for information about the Library's access policy, contact Access Privileges (617-496-5510) or use the associated request form.
Spouses or domestic partners of faculty members and their children over eighteen years of age may use the Law Library and other Harvard libraries by obtaining a borrower's card at the Library Privileges Office in the Widener Library. Faculty research assistants who are not currently enrolled students should also register at the Widener Privileges Office in order to gain access to Harvard libraries and to borrow materials on behalf of faculty members.
