Journal Alerts & Current Awareness Services

Current Awareness Services help keep scholars informed about the latest journal articles published in their areas of interest. The Library provides a variety of current awareness services to accommodate your research needs.

Below are several options for keeping up with newly published literature. If these resources do not completely satisfy your current awareness needs, please let your Library Liaison know. Your liaison has information about other specialized current awareness tools in law and non-law disciplines, and will work with you to set up the combination of services that will best suit your research interests.

Basic Current Awareness Services

Current Index to Legal Periodicals (CILP)

-Most Current
-Most Basic

CILP, updated weekly, offers tables of contents for newly published law periodicals, tracking over 500 major law reviews and journals. CILP is available 4-6 weeks earlier than other commercial legal periodical indexes. The latest issue of CILP is available every Friday.

CILP is available in html, pdf, and Word format. The html version allows a direct link to the cited articles in full text articles on Westlaw and Lexis. (You will be prompted for your Lexis or Westlaw password.)

Legal Resource Index Update   (formerly known as "Tables of Contents")

-More Comprehensive
-Less Current

Legal Resource Index Update provides table of contents access to over 900 periodicals indexed by Legal Resource Index on Westlaw. Full text of cited articles available on Westlaw may be obtained by following the links to the citations. Links to the Library's FRIDA request form are also appended to each citation. Although updated weekly, because citations are added as journals are indexed, the listings may be weeks less current than those on CILP. Both an archive and a search feature of past Index Updates are also available. (Access restricted to Faculty. Use your email name and password to log in.)
