EU Appendix B Databases Westlaw

Westlaw currently updates the following databases twice weekly.

Primary Sources:

EU-LEG
The EU-LEG database contains comprehensive and current materials from the Official Journal L Series.  

Search Tips:
To find legislation by citation, in the "Find" search box,  use the following forms:

For Council Decision 90/647/EEC, use:  

oj 1990 L352/1 or  eu: decision 90/647/eec 

Restricting the search by title (ti) is also very effective in this database:

ti (directive & electronic /1 commerce)

EU-TREATIES    
The EU-TREATIES database contains the treaties concluded between the Member States.  These include the Founding Treaties, Accession Treaties, and the Maastricht Treaty.

Search Tips:
To retrieve a treaty by citation,  in the "Find" search box, use the following forms:

oj 1992 c191/45  or  eu:  escs treaty (1951) art. 12a

To find Article 12a of the Treaty Establishing the European Coal and Steel Community.

EU-CS
The EU-CS database contains the official case reports as included in the European Court Reports.  

Search Tip:
To retrieve a case by citation, use the "Find" search box and the following forms:

(1998) ecr 1-7235  or  eu: case c-150/94  

EU-ACTS    
The EU-ACTS database contains the Preparatory Documents from the EU.  Basically coverage includes COM, CES, and EP working documents that are submitted as proposed legislation and opinions on proposed legislation.  As the coverage of this database is a bit complicated, please consult the "scope" note before searching.

Search Tip:
To find a document by citation: in the "Find" search box, type one of the following citations:

EURUPDATE
European Update

The EURUPDATE database contains documents prepared by DRT Europe Service, SA covering a broad range of issues and industries in the European Union (EU), formerly European Community. A document is a report that analyzes EU policy, EU business and legal topics, a specific industry in the EU, trade relations between the EU and various countries, and the business climate in various East European countries. EurUpdate documents include references to the Official Journal of the European Union.

Contains the full text of the treatise European Union Business Law: Sourcebook by Ralph H. Folsom.


SPICERSSEU

Spicers Centre for Europe Abstracts
SPICERS is a comprehensive database containing abstracts of legislation, regulations, directives, decisions, proposals, notices, background information, press releases, newsletters, written European Parliament questions, or Court of Justice cases from official and other informed sources. European Union law from 1987 to date. The database concentrates on material from the Official Journal "C" and "L" series and Commission Documents; and also draws upon 70 other sources of European Union information. References to related documents are provided as appropriate.


EUROREP

European Report
Contains documents from European Report, a newsletter published twice a week. Coverage begins with December 1991.


EUROEN

Europe Energy
Contains documents from Europe Energy, a biweekly newsletter publication. Coverage begins with January 1992.
