Finding HHS Decisions
Below are suggested sources for finding HHS Decisions.
- Westlaw's Federal Health Law – Health and Human Services Decisions (FHTH-HHS) – This database includes decisions released by the Department of Health and Human Services. This includes decisions by the Civil Remedies Division, the Appellate Division, and the Quality Control Review Panel. For this database, a document is a Civil Remedies Decision (signed by an Administrative Law Judge), an Appellate Decision (signed by three board members), a Quality Control Decision (signed by three attorneys who are Quality Control Panel members), DAB Or GAB Decision, Exclusion Case, or Civil Money Penalty. Coverage begins with March 1974 and new documents are added as they are released by the government.
- Lexis's Health and Human Services Departmental Appeals Board Decisions (HEALTH; HHSDAB) – This database includes HHS Appeals Board Decisions from 1974 through the present.
- Medicare and Medicaid Guide [KF 3608.A4 C64], and the electronic version (Non-commercial use only; Harvard ID and pin required.) After clicking on the link above, click on "CCH Health and Human Services Research Network," then on "Enter" and then click on the "Health Care Reimbursement " tab. Once in the "Health Care Reimbursement" tab, select "Administrative Decisions" and then "HHS Dept. Appeals Board Decisions." Note that this source includes different decisions from CCH Health Care Compliance listed next.
- Health Care Compliance (including the Hospital Law Manual) - (Non-commercial use only; Harvard ID and pin required.) After clicking on the link above, click on "CCH Health and Human Services Research Network," then on "Enter" and then click on the "Health Care Compliance" tab. Once in this tab, select "Administrative Decisions" and then "Departmental Appeals Board Decisions." Note that this source includes different decisions from the CCH Medicare and Medicaid Guide listed above.
