Research Instruction: Reference

Overview

The Reference Departments offer a variety of legal research classes throughout the year. In the fall, librarians give tours and provide HOLLIS, Westlaw, and LexisNexis training to incoming students.

Throughout the year, librarians also teach a variety of one-hour research sessions. A sampling of past research classes include:

At the request of a faculty member, all reference librarians are available for classroom lectures on research techniques or information resources.

And as always, the Langdell Reference Department offers walk-up training in HOLLIS, including an introduction to HOLLIS Catalog, offered on Wednesday afternoons at 2 p.m., and Thursday mornings at 11:30 a.m. Just come to the Langdell Reference desk!

Please periodically check The Administrative Updates section on the MyHLS homepage, this page, or the What's New section of the Library's Web for notice of upcoming research classes. If you are interested in research sessions on a particular subject, please let the reference librarians know!
