2005 Jessup Moot Court Team
Harvard Law School recently captured the Northeast Regional championship of the 2005 Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, defeating the University of Vermont and Boston College in elimination rounds. The HLS team consisted of team captain Hugo Torres (3L), Rachel Rebouche (2L), Brandon Miller (1L), Erica Gaston (1L) and Marc Jacob (LL.M.). In addition to winning the regional title, the team advances to the international rounds, which will be held in D.C. from March 27th-April 2nd.

Hugo Torres won the award for Best Oralist, and Brandon Miller secured the award for 6th Best Oralist. This year marked the seventh consecutive year that a team from Harvard Law School has won the regional competition and advanced to the international rounds.

Widely recognized as the most prestigious international law moot court competition in the world, the Jessup was co-founded by Harvard Law School in 1959. This year's problem addressed the question of liability over nuclear maritime accidents and state responsibility over agents who exceed the authority granted to them by the state.
