The Supreme Court

Post Date: September 21, 2005

At noon today, Professors Martha Minow and Laurence Tribe held a press conference on the steps of Langdell Hall to release a friend-of-the-court brief arguing that the Solomon Amendment -- the 1994 law allowing the government to block federal funds to universities that restrict military recruiters' access to students -- does not prevent Harvard from enforcing its nondiscrimination policies.

More than 40 HLS faculty members, including Dean Elena Kagan, have signed the brief. Click here to download a PDF file of the brief.

Yesterday Dean Kagan released a statement to the HLS community outlining the school's current position on military recruiting. Click here to read the dean's statement, which was e-mailed to all students, faculty and staff.
