Twenty-three Harvard Law School professors sent a letter supporting the Supreme Court nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Senate Judiciary Committee on July 8.

Signed by 1,180 law school professors from around the country, the letter urged the swift confirmation of Sotomayor.

“As a federal judge at both the trial and appellate levels, Judge Sotomayor has distinguished herself as a brilliant, careful, fair-minded jurist whose rulings exhibit unfailing adherence to the rule of law,” says the letter (PDF). “Her opinions reflect careful attention to the facts of each case and a reading of the law that demonstrates fidelity to the text of statutes and the Constitution.”
