| A Peruvian oven mitt, a Rwandan flag, a swatch of a Scottish family plaidthese were among the cloth pieces stitched together by then LL.M. coordinator and quiltmaker Adelaide Shalhope to create a colorful quilt that now hangs in the Graduate Program office. At the programs behest, Shalhope (who left HLS this fall to pursue a design program in London) began the project in 1997, asking that year's LL.M. and S.J.D. students to give her quilt-suitable materials representing their cultures. Thirty-six students from 30 countries participated in the quilt project. |
