Swing Dancing for Public InterestDanny Levin 00 and Elizabeth Pipkin 01 dazzled the packed
Ames Courtroom with their spins and dips during this years sixth annual Public
Interest Auction, at which swing dance lessons were among the items up for grabs. The
silent and live auction raised more than $65,000 to help fund students working in public
interest jobs this summer. Bidding was fast and furious for historical issues of Life
magazine ($300), lunch with Mario Cuomo ($750), and a book by Robert F. Kennedy inscribed
to Professor Emeritus Archibald Cox 37 ($1,000). The biggest-ticket item was two
days behind the wheel for two at the Bob Bondurant School of Racing in Arizona ($1,900).
The auction was emceed by Professors Philip Heymann 60 and Carol Steiker 86,
and cochaired by Sarah Szalavitz 01 and Renee McFarland 01. Over 200 students
and other members of the HLS community worked on the event. |
