HLS RECIPROCITY POLICY

The Harvard Law School Office of Career Services will extend reciprocal services to graduates and students of other law schools upon request of their law school career services office. In return, we seek the same consideration from the requesting law school. Decisions regarding reciprocity are made on a case-by-case basis, and limited resources and space may not allow us to accommodate all requests. Therefore we ask that schools please submit reciprocity requests well in advance.

Please note the following rules and conditions relating to reciprocity:

Requests for reciprocity must be made by a career services official, in writing or by email. Requests should include the name and address of the student or graduate seeking reciprocity and the student or graduate’s preferred method of contact, i.e. post or e-mail. Our office will send a response to the requesting school with a copy to the student or graduate. The student or graduate must present a copy of the letter or e-mail granting reciprocity when arriving at our office.
Reciprocal services are available for a period of three months from the date on which reciprocity was granted. Services are available during our regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
We regret that reciprocity is not available during the period of August 15-November 15.
Resources available through reciprocity include print resources covering topics such as career exploration, types of legal employers and legal practice areas. We do not allow publications to be checked out from the career library.
We are not able to extend counseling services, to students or graduates through reciprocity.
We allow reciprocal viewing of our on-line job listings only through a computer located in our office. We cannot share password access to our job listings with those seeking to use this service outside our office.
The Office of Career Services cannot arrange access to the Harvard Law School Library or other Harvard Libraries (outside of our limited office collection). Any request to use the Harvard Libraries should be directed to the respective librarians.
Reciprocity may be revoked at the discretion of the Assistant Dean of Career Services.
