Larry Hamdan is Executive Chairman of Global M&A and Head of Global Industrials M&A at Barclays Capital, which he joined in 2010. He previously worked for 21 years at Credit Suisse where he was Vice Chairman of Global M&A and the Global Co-Head of the General Industrial Group.
He has advised on $500 billion of transactions including NRG's $15 billion hostile defense and proxy contest victory; TRW's US$12 billion hostile defense and subsequent sale to Northrop Grumman; GE's US$14 billion stock/cash acquisition of Vivendi Universal; AMP's US$12 billion hostile defense and subsequent sale to Tyco International; and Alcoa's US$5 billion unsolicited takeover of Reynolds Metals.
He has advised many companies facing proposals from hedge fund activists. He also has advised on transactions for clients including Danaher, ITT, Goodrich, Evraz, Home Depot, Stanley Black & Decker and United Technologies.
Mr. Hamdan’s representation of TRW was named M&A Deal of the Year by both Investment Dealers' Digest and Institutional Investor and has been a Harvard Business School finance case.
Mr. Hamdan received an AB degree in Economics, magna cum laude, from Princeton University, a JD degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and an MBA degree with highest distinction from Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar.
