Student Activity Fund

Who Can Apply

Student organizations throughout Harvard University (graduate and undergraduate) are invited to submit funding proposals to the Islamic Legal Studies Program for activities at Harvard related to law in the Muslim world.

Type of Activity

There is no restriction on the kind of activity that may be proposed but it must be an event open to the general public. All activities will be judged on their ability to enhance relevant learning and understanding at the university. A wide range of funding requests will be considered, e.g., bringing a speaker to Harvard, setting up a study group, or organizing a film series.

Number and Size of Awards

A limited number of awards, varying in size between $300 to $1000, are distributed each academic year.

How to Apply

Applications will be accepted throughout the year but should be submitted at least 40 days prior to the proposed activity. The proposal should include a detailed budget, with a specific amount requested from the Islamic Legal Studies Program, and a list of other funding sources and the amount requested and/or received; it should also indicate how the activity will be promoted and advertised. Each activity must conform to the rules and policies pertaining to student organizations in the appropriate school or faculty. All activities must be open to the public and the Islamic Legal Studies Program should be recognized as a supporter or co-sponsor in all written documentation preceding or subsequent to the event.

Proposals should be submitted to ILSP's Associate Director at pbearman@law.harvard.edu.
